Meet Trevor

Name: Trevor
Occupation: Community Involvement Specialist
Employer: Columbia Bank
Gets Around By: Bike & Train

Where do you live & where do you work?
I live in Fremont (north of Seattle) and I work in downtown Tacoma.

How do you get there?
Most days I will bike to King Street Station in downtown Seattle and then take the Sounder from Seattle to Tacoma and bike into work from there. On really nice days, I will bike all the way in and take the train home.

How does it all add up? How much money or time do you save?
On days where the traffic is really bad, I can save anywhere from 30minutes to 2 hours. In terms of money, I have cut my gas bill in half. This year alone, I have saved over $1,200 in gas and my company is awesome enough to cover a portion of my Orca bill each month!

What’s in it for you?
I feel like I am doing my part to help make the city a more bike friendly area and I am becoming healthier and more active in my day-to-day life.

Do you have any tips for people who may be trying these modes for the first time?
Don’t get discouraged. Biking to work takes planning; mapping out the safest route before hand will actually save you time in the long run.
