Where do you live and where do you work?
I live at the Harmon Lofts and I work at DaVita.
When did you move downtown?
I moved downtown November 1st, 2014.
What’s in it for you?
Simplicity, almost everything I need is just outside my front door, work, art, dining and shopping. I’ve barely driven my car since moving.
How do you usually get to work? How far is it?
I walk everyday, it’s only 1/2 mile to my office and my ‘commute’ takes me through the lovely UW Tacoma Campus on the Prairie Line Trail, it’s a great way to start and end the workday!
How does it all add up? Do you save time or money?
For the most part I save time on my commute and a refreshing 10 minute walk to work beats driving any day! I also save time and money by living in a loft instead of a house. No yard work and cheaper utilities!
What’s the best part about living downtown?
It’s easily the location, I’m not only close to my job but within walking distance or a short ride on the Link to museums, restaurants and shopping. I made a vow to do all of my Christmas shopping downtown once I moved in and I did it, thanks to the UW bookstore, The Learning Sprout and Watermark Gifts!
What suggestions do you have for someone who may be thinking of moving downtown?
Don’t wait! I’d been thinking about moving downtown for years and wish I would have done it sooner!
