Name: Eric Peterson
Occupation: Software Developer/Entrepreneur
Employer: Accumula Labs
Gets around by: Bike(s) or walking whenever possible
Where do you live and where do you work? Live in Central Tacoma, work in Downtown Tacoma
How do you get there? Single Speed Redline for commutes, Norco CRD1 for longer rides
How does it all add up? How much money or time do you save? My (new) commute is only about 3 miles, so it’s actually faster to ride to work than to drive, park, and walk. But really it’s about joy. Riding bikes are fun. Sitting in a car isn’t 😉
What’s in it for you? The fitness benefit is great, but I find that I’m much more plugged into my neighborhood when I ride it on a bike.
Do you have any tips for people who may be trying these modes for the first time? Just like most things in life, practice helps. Hills are always hard, but they get easier. Everybody walks up ’em at the start. We have awesome transit coverage, so take your bike for a ride somewhere; then when you’re done, find the closest bus stop and hop a ride home.
