Wayfinding Signage

Downtown On the Go popped-up some wayfinding signage to help remind people how easy it is to get around downtown Tacoma on foot. Walking is a great way to stay healthy, save money, and engage more with your city!

Where would wayfinding signs be helpful in downtown Tacoma?

What is wayfinding signage?

Wayfinding signage are those signs that tell you where you are, where your desired location is, and how to get there. They are a piece of infrastructure that helps promote walkability and bikeability in neighborhoods.

What is infrastructure?

Infrastructure is the basic equipment and structures, like roads, bridges, and sidewalks, which are needed for a place to function. Infrastructure helps everybody get to where they are going. By improving infrastructure the City of Tacoma is making it easier and safer to get around for everybody.

What is walkability?

Walkability is a measure of how friendly an area is to walking. Factors include quality of sidewalks, traffic and road conditions, building accessibility, and safety.

This project is funded in part by the Neighborhood Council of New Tacoma and a Neighborhood Small Innovative Grant.
