Name: Jake
Occupation: Claim Team Manager
Employer: State Farm
Lives: Thea’s Landing in downtown Tacoma
Where do you live and where do you work?
I live at Thea’s Landing off Dock Street. I work at State Farm, the 909 A Street building.
When did you move downtown?
I moved downtown in October of last year when I arrived in Tacoma.
What’s in it for you?
A wonderful view and a lot of things I need and want are nearby. Specifically I enjoy being close to my cross fit gym, “Tacoma Strength,” going to the restaurants in my building and the many others on Pacific Avenue, and the ability to get onto the interstate quickly.
How do you usually get to work? How far is it?
Typically, I will walk when possible. It is a 15 minute walk, which is a little less than a mile.
How does it all add up? Do you save time or money?
I definitely save money on gas for my vehicle. With regards to time, I take advantage of not having to find parking, however, I do have to leave a little earlier when walking places if I am to arrive at a planned time.
What’s the best part of living downtown?
The availability of things to do within walking distance.
What suggestions do you have for someone who may be thinking of moving downtown?
Consider one’s own lifestyle, find a place that is fitting to that lifestyle, and stay conscious of events going on within the area.
