Why did you join us for Park(ing) Day?

“I love all things ‘community focused’ and the concept of making an effective community gathering area in such a small space is interesting.” – Park(ing) Day participant

Park(ing) Day

Parking Day 2022

For the last few years, we’ve seen parking spots utilized in ways they haven’t before, as restaurant dining space, gardens, bench spaces, and pedestrian accesses. Since 2005, Park(ing) day has been an international event in which artists, citizens, and businesses  transform a metered parking spot into temporary public space. For more info about the international Park(ing) day, check out the world map.

It’s happening here in Tacoma again this year! Parking spaces along Pacific Ave. between S. 7th and S. 11th will be transformed by local organizations and individuals. Save the date for September 16th, and join us downtown 10am-2pm to explore the parklets, enjoy local food vendors, and reimagine the use of public use spaces.

Check out this year’s map and list of participants!
