Walk Tacoma Kick-off April 5

Celebrate National Walking Day with Downtown On the Go and the American Heart Association at the Walk Tacoma Kick-off on Wednesday, April 5 from noon – 1 p.m. The free, 1.3 mile walk, sponsored by Metro Parks and the Rhein Haus Tacoma, will start by the lion sculptures on the south side of Wright Park. It will take participants on an architectural history tour of Wright Park and the Stadium District led by Melissa McGinnis of Metro Parks, and Katie Pratt and Susan Johnson of Artifacts Consulting. Following the walk, join other participants for light appetizers and Happy Hour pricing at the new Rhein Haus Tacoma. The first 300 participants will receive a swag bag.  Sign-in and bag pick-up will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The Walk Tacoma Architectural History Walk kicks off the seven event 2017 Walk Tacoma Series sponsored by MultiCare and the Puyallup Watershed Initiative Active Transportation COI. The free walk series, held on the first Wednesday of the month, highlights different areas of downtown through themed, 1 – 2 mile walk events, led by local leaders, historians, architects, and artists. The walks are held at the lunch hour (12 – 1p.m.) and just after work (5:15 – 6:30 p.m.), and all evening walks include a social following the walk.  This year, the Children’s Museum of Tacoma will be leading a children’s activity at each walk event, making it extra fun for all ages. Pre-registration is available at www.downtownonthego.com/go/walking or join DOTG at the start and sign-in when you arrive.
