Celebrate Walk Tacoma Day with Downtown On the Go and Foss Waterway Seaport’s Wesley Wenhardt with a free guided walk on Wednesday, June 21 from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m. along downtown Tacoma’s gorgeous waterway. Following the walk enjoy a social at Foss Waterway Seaport with live music, free exhibit exploration, and small refreshments. All ages are welcome!
The 1.5 mile walk, sponsored by Veteran & Business Service, will begin outside of the bus stop at the Tacoma Dome Station (505 E 25th). Participants will stroll along the waterfront and learn about its history and future development. After the social, participants will have the option to ride a boat back to the Museum of Glass and either walk or hop on the Link light rail for the half-mile route back to the starting point.
Register for the Waterfront Walk online at www.downtownonthego.org/go/walking or sign-in at the event.
This year, the Children’s Museum of Tacoma will be partnering with Downtown On the Go to provide an activity for children at all of the Walk Tacoma events to encourage families to participate and to help get kids excited about getting out and about.
The Walk Tacoma Series, sponsored by MultiCare and the Puyallup Watershed Initiative Active Transportation COI, is a seven event walking series held on the first Wednesday of the month, from April through September. The fun, themed walks, now in their eighth year, encourage people to enjoy downtown on foot by introducing new walking routes and sharing information about the community and its history through the guided tours. The walks are scheduled at the lunch hour or just after work to encourage downtown employees, students, and residents to walk during the day, whether it is to and from work or school, at a lunch break, or to run an errand.
