Park(ing) Day in Downtown Tacoma!

There will be over 25 pop-up parks in downtown Tacoma on Friday, September 19 in celebration of Park(ing) Day, a global day in which parking spots temporarily become public parks.  Join in on the fun!  The interactive parks will be open to the public from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Downtown On the Go will have fun activities to encourage you to visit the spaces.

Take a break at lunch to join DOTG for a walk event that will start at the top of the UWT stairs at 19th & Jefferson at noon, and head to many of the parks in downtown.  There is no pre-registration necessary, just join us at the start.

If you can’t make the walk event, stop by any Park(ing) Day park for a passport and map.  By visiting at least five parks and having your passport stamped, you will be entered to win prizes.  Click here to view a map of the locations.

Photos of all the Park(ing) Day parks will be posted on the Downtown On the Go Facebook page the day of the event.  Vote for your favorite park, and help one of the local businesses, organizations, or residents hosting a park win a $100 gift certificate to their favorite downtown business.
