Moving into the Future
Feb 21, 2020
Noon-1 p.m. at the Pantages Lobby
As we age, our needs, abilities, and preferences change. Fewer people will be able to drive and local services for people with disabilities and other needs will need to dramatically improve. Having a connected and accessible transportation network; that includes walking, biking, transit, and driving options; will be an important factor in people’s ability to age in place.
At February’s Friday Forum, we will feature experts on the topic of transportation and older adults. Council Member Lillian Hunter is leading the City of Tacoma’s efforts to become an AARP Livable Community. She will be joined by Garrit Nyland of Catholic Community Services, City of Tacoma’s Transportation Commission, and by Carol Kachadoorian, who works at Toole Design as the Older Adult Mobility Practice Lead. Tanisha Jumper, City of Tacoma, will return to moderate this discussion and help to frame the topic in the context of Tacoma 2025.
