Downtown On the Go Manager Appointed to State CTR Board

Downtown On the Go Manager Kristina Walker was recently appointed to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Commute Trip Reduction Board. Walker will represent Tacoma and Pierce County for four years on this policy-making board to improve transportation in Washington State through commute options.

The Board’s mission is to demonstrate and inspire leadership through enhancing transportation choices that support our state’s communities, economy and environment. In partnership with local communities, the Board champions effective strategies for managing traffic congestion, conserving energy and improving air quality.

The Board also supports the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Moving Washington initiative, WSDOT’s approach to an integrated 21st century transportation system. A fundamental objective of Moving Washington is managing transportation demand and the state’s CTR program is a proven strategy toward that objective.

Walker looks forward to being part of the conversation and working together with board members to improve efficiency in CTR programs around the state.
