Calling all businesses, organizations, artists, and persons interested in lively public space! Friday, September 21 is Park(ing) Day, a global day in which parking spots temporarily become public parks.
Want a piece of the action? Create your own Park(ing) Day space in downtown Tacoma on Pacific Ave. between S. 7th & S. 17th St. to be part of the larger event. Host a space open to the public between the hours of 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be food trucks, a walk event, a passport to encourage people to visit the parks, and a “People’s Choice Award” for their favorite park.
If you would like to host a space, register here by August 29. It is free to participate, and Downtown On the Go will reserve all spaces with a City of Tacoma permit and by hiring a barricade company.
Need some inspiration or supplies to host a space? Check out some of the photos from past years and see the list of materials Downtown On the Go has available to be reserved for the day.
