Park(ing) Day in Downtown Tacoma

Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 is Park(ing) Day in Downtown Tacoma, a global day in which parking spots temporarily become public parks.

Participate!
Be a part of the event in downtown Tacoma by visiting all the “parks” (view map) or joining us on a Park(ing) Day walk from noon to 1 p.m. beginning at the top of the UW Tacoma stairs.

Send us a photo of yourself at each spot you visit and email it to dotg@tacomachamber.org. The more parks you visit (and send in a photo), the more chances you have to win! Two winners will receive an ORCA pass loaded with $12 and a Park(ing) Day T-shirt.

Choose your favorite park on Facebook and the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to the downtown business of their choice!

Download and print the Park(ing) Day Poster.

About Park(ing) Day
The project began in 2005 in San Francisco and has evolved into a global movement.    It is meant to promote thoughtfulness about how we use physical space in a way that is fun and engaging to the community.

Check out photos from Tacoma last year on the DOTG Facebook page. Learn more about the international event at www.parkingday.org.

For more information or to register for Park(ing) Day, Contact Meagan Kula, Downtown On the Go Coordinator at (253)682-1734 or dotg@tacomachamber.org.
